A former Bafana Bafana striker has recommended that the Soweto giants sign Gaston Sirino during this transfer window.
**Mphela Advises Chiefs on Signing Sirino**
– Sirino is a free agent after leaving Sundowns.
– Katlego Mphela, who played for both Sundowns and Chiefs, suggests the Chiefs should sign Sirino.
**WHAT HAPPENED?**
South African football legend Katlego Mphela has advised Kaizer Chiefs to consider signing former Mamelodi Sundowns star Sirino. Sirino became a free agent after being released by Sundowns, along with notable players like Bongani Zungu and Junior Mendieta. Mphela, having played for both Chiefs and Sundowns, sees potential in Sirino joining Chiefs.
**WHAT MPHELA SAID:**
“Chiefs must sign international players and mix them with their youth players. The young players understand the team’s philosophy and culture,” Mphela told Soccer Laduma. “If they combine international players with their youth and experienced players, the team will perform well and compete this season. Sirino is a quality player and a free agent with experience in winning. He can help Chiefs a lot. They need to sign players who are winners at heart to fight for trophies.”
**THE BIGGER PICTURE:**
Sirino fell out of favor with former Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena last season, playing only 24 games in all competitions. Since joining the South African champions in 2018, the 33-year-old won the league title seven times and several cup competitions, helping Masandawana win the inaugural African Football League.
**WHAT NEXT?**
With Sirino available, it remains to be seen if Chiefs will consider Mphela’s advice. Sirino is also linked with other African teams, including Egypt’s Al Ahly and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.
