**LeBron James Leads Team USA to Victory in Exhibition Games Ahead of Olympics**
As the United States men’s basketball team completed its five-game exhibition tour undefeated, one thing became clear: LeBron James is the closer. The four-time NBA MVP and two-time gold medalist has been instrumental in the fourth quarter of Team USA’s last two games, securing late wins against South Sudan and Germany. Team USA, which opens Group C play on Sunday, July 28 against Serbia, has faced challenging exhibition games.
In their last two victories, Team USA won by a combined total of five points, with James, 39, making crucial plays, including a decisive three-pointer against Germany. Returning after a 12-year absence, James has been the standout player during the exhibition schedule.
After the games, James cautioned his teammates against complacency due to their immense talent. Kevin Durant, a former MVP and prolific scorer, has yet to play but may debut against Serbia on Sunday.
Despite predictions that Team USA would easily dominate the Olympic tournament with a roster featuring 11 NBA All-Stars, four MVPs, and arguably the best player (James) and best shooter (Steph Curry) in the game, the exhibition games have shown that opponents are not intimidated and that the team is vulnerable when it lacks focus.
Stephen Curry noted that the team can be beaten if they don’t execute well, emphasizing the importance of extra possessions, ball security, and avoiding fouls. While James has been pivotal in the fourth quarter, Curry believes that locking in defensively and rebounding are key to their success. He expressed confidence that by focusing on these details and playing solid, hard-nosed basketball, Team USA will be fine.
