GREAT NEWS: Cornerback Kevin King, who departed from the NFL in 2021 to prioritize his personal well-being, made a remarkable return by recording an interception in his first game back after…

Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King made an immediate impact in his preseason debut with the Atlanta Falcons, intercepting Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson late in the first quarter. King, a second-round draft pick by the Packers in 2017, returned the interception for 29 yards, setting up a touchdown for the Falcons.

After not being re-signed by the Packers following the 2021 season, King sat out the entire 2022 season and faced a season-ending injury in 2023. This game marked his first NFL action since he played eight snaps in the Packers’ playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers on January 22, 2022.

King’s interception was the only one in the game, although the Dolphins came back to win 20-17 after trailing 10-3. On the Falcons’ unofficial depth chart, King is listed as the primary backup at cornerback behind starter A.J. Terrell, indicating a solid chance of making the 53-man roster.

Now 29, King intercepted seven passes over 51 games with the Packers from 2017 to 2021. After struggling with injuries in his first five seasons, he took a year off to recover physically but suffered a torn Achilles tendon while training in May 2023. The Falcons signed him on April 8, 2024. Notably, the Packers and Falcons are not scheduled to meet in the regular season in 2024.
