SAD NEWS: Four Blue Devils key players announced departure today after…………….
The latest developments in Duke basketball highlight a significant turnover in the roster as head coach Jon Scheyer prepares for the 2024-2025 season. With seven players from last year’s Elite Eight team entering the transfer portal, including notable names like Sean Stewart and TJ Power, Duke is facing a major reshuffle. This exodus, combined with the departures of Kyle Filipowski and Jared McCain to the NBA Draft, leaves Duke with just three returning players: Tyrese Proctor, Caleb Foster, and senior walk-on Stanley Borden.
The Blue Devils are set to welcome an impressive incoming freshman class, headlined by Rivals No. 1 recruit Cooper Flagg. Flagg is joined by highly ranked prospects Kon Kneuppel, Isaiah Evans, and Khaman Maluach, as well as four-star recruits Patrick Ngongba II and Darren Harris. This influx of talent could be a key factor in the team’s ability to reload quickly.
Duke is also expected to bolster its roster through the transfer portal, with reported interests in Maliq Brown from Syracuse, Brandon Angel from Stanford, and Mason Gillis from Purdue. As Scheyer enters his third season, this will be his first without any players from the Mike Krzyzewski era, setting up what could be a pivotal year for his coaching tenure. Despite maintaining strong recruiting classes, Scheyer has yet to lead Duke to the Final Four, and expectations are high for the upcoming season.
