**BREAKING NEWS: Will Muschamp ‘Passing the Torch’ in New Role with Georgia Football**
ATHENS — Will Muschamp, former Georgia head coach and defensive coordinator, has transitioned to a new role with the Bulldogs as an analyst. This change marks a significant shift in Muschamp’s long-standing relationship with the program and his nearly two-decade partnership with new safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson.
Despite his new title, Muschamp remains deeply involved in the team’s operations. Robinson, who has worked with Muschamp since 2006, describes their dynamic as unchanged, with Muschamp maintaining his hands-on approach and presence in daily meetings and practices.
Defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann praised Muschamp for his collaborative spirit and support, highlighting how Muschamp’s extensive experience continues to benefit the defensive staff and overall program. Muschamp’s decision to step back from on-field coaching was driven by a desire to be more present in his son Whit’s life, who is now a freshman quarterback at Vanderbilt.
Even though Muschamp’s title has shifted, his influence remains strong. He has been actively involved in practice, particularly working with safeties, and has played a crucial role in helping Robinson adjust to Georgia’s unique culture and methods. Muschamp’s deep connections with key staff members, including offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and head coach Kirby Smart, underline his continued commitment to the Bulldogs.
Robinson views Muschamp as a mentor and a father figure, underscoring the lasting impact Muschamp has had on his career and on the Georgia football program.
