Dabo Swinney Urges Clemson Fans to Rally Behind the Team Amidst Recruiting Challenges
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney made an impassioned plea to the team’s fans on Tuesday, urging them to support the program during a challenging time in recruiting.
Swinney’s comments came in response to a question about IPTAY’s involvement in helping the 110 Society, which aims to provide better Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for Clemson student-athletes.
“We need everybody’s support in that for sure,” Swinney said. “This is just what we have to do to compete.”
Clemson has been facing significant challenges in recruiting, with five commitments flipping to other schools since August. National Signing Day is just around the corner, and Swinney acknowledged that the team needs all the support it can get.
“I have said many times that we are kind of in the fourth quarter, we are in the back twenty percent of insanity,” he said. “We got some normalcy in this new world coming, but revenue share does not start until July 1.”
Swinney expressed his gratitude for IPTAY’s efforts in supporting the 110 Society, which he believes will help Clemson become more competitive in the NIL market.
“In the past, there was no benefits to give to the 110, you just were helping us and that has been a challenge,” Swinney said. “That is the reality of it. It is not going to be a challenge for rev share.”
Swinney emphasized that when revenue sharing begins, Clemson will have the same amount of money as every other school, and that it will be third-party regulated.
“We know what the number is,” he said. “You can’t spend a penny more and you can’t spend a penny less.”
Swinney’s plea to Clemson fans is clear: the team needs their support now more than ever. With recruiting challenges mounting and National Signing Day looming, the Tigers are counting on their loyal fan base to rally behind them.
