Alabama football’s top pass rusher will return for the 2025 season.
LT Overton made the announcement on Instagram Wednesday, confirming he will remain for his senior year.
“The journey toward success, paved by those before me at Alabama, is far from over,” Overton shared in his post. “I’m ready for the challenges ahead, eager to provide leadership, and committed to working hard with my teammates to achieve our goals. As Kobe Bryant once said – the job isn’t finished! This is just the beginning. 2025 will be a year of action. I’m officially announcing that I’m returning for my senior year. Roll Tide, Roll!”
Overton led Alabama’s pass rushers in 2024 with 38 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. The next closest player had just 19.
He also recorded 42 tackles, one pass breakup, two sacks, and one forced fumble in 2024, sharing time at the Bandit position (a hybrid defensive end/edge rusher) with Jah-Marien Latham.
Overton transferred to Alabama ahead of the 2024 season after two years at Texas A&M. Although eligible for the NFL Draft, he has chosen to delay his professional career by staying for his senior year.
His decision strengthens Alabama’s defensive line for 2025. The Crimson Tide also added Florida transfer Kelby Collins at the Bandit spot, and Latham still has eligibility remaining. Another promising option is Keon Keeley, who is expected to return.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL Draft is January 15.
